Neurology

Special Interest Group

Welcome! We're glad you found us!

History: The Neurology SIG (NSIG) held its first meeting in February 2022. At that meeting, officers were elected and program planning was initiated.

Our Purpose: The purpose of the APTA North Carolina Neurology Special Interest Group is to provide a means for physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students who are inquisitive and passionate about neurorehabilitation to meet, confer, and promote the interests of its membership, the American Physical Therapy Association, and APTA North Carolina.

Our Functions: We function to promote the role of therapists in neurological rehabilitation with a consideration for diagnosis, management, and prevention of injury or insult in the physical therapy profession. Our goals are to endorse, educate, and mentor students and therapists on the best evidence-based practices as it relates to neurorehabilitation and recovery. We are committed to assisting APTA North Carolina in promoting the objectives and functions of the NSIG as well as increasing membership and active participation of therapists in the APTA NC and APTA.
